The weekend release of personal details about a woman who complained about the Centrelink debt recovery scheme has raised questions about whether it broke privacy laws.
The Federal Government is now seeking powers which could allow Veterans' personal information to be released.
Professor Katina Michael from the University of Wollongong and the executive director of legal practice at Victoria Legal Aid Katie Miller spoke to ABC Radio Canberra breakfast host Dan Bourchier about whether this will discourage critics from talking to the media.
