The purpose of the IEEE Transactions on Technology and Society New Transactions Survey was to assess interest in a new Transactions.
5,093 Members of the IEEE (including 1,093 members of the IEEE Society on the Social Implications of Technology, and 4,000 randomly sampled IEEE members) were surveyed using a self-administered, online questionnaire. The survey was conducted by IEEE Strategic Research.
Half of all respondents were likely to read this Transactions.
A vast majority of respondents stated that this Transactions is a good fit for Xplore.
85% of the respondents believe the new publication is a good fit for Xplore.
50% of respondents would read the new publication
23% were likely to submit at least one paper per year to the new transactions.
77% of respondents believed that the subject matter would still be important in ten years.
77% of respondents indicated that the subject matter was intellectually interesting to them personally.
58% indicated the journal would be useful to them personally.
Clearly, the IEEE readership is highly interested in this periodical. The response to the survey was approximately 11%, a relatively high response rate, suggesting a certain “excitement” for the publication as it cross-cuts the interests of many IEEE members, regardless of their specialized interest or society member
Overall, 83% of the respondents thought the subject matter is growing and 78% believe the subject matter will still be important in ten years.
